Cost is $40 per person plus $2 per pipe you use. It takes about 1 pipe to make most types of bows.

Survival Kit
Survival packs or “Bug Out Bags” are a great thing to have in case of emergency. Primitive skills can get you by no problem, but having even just a little bit of gear makes survival much easier. You want to have all the advantage you can get during a survival situation, and a survival pack gives you that advantage in a compact and quick to grab package. In this workshop we will go over:

-
What should be included in different types of survival kits such as:
-
Your E.D.C. or what you carry on your person every day
-
A small scout style survival pack to bring with when you are away from home
-
A main survival pack to grab that will help keep you and the people you are with alive long term
-
-
What I keep in my personal survival packs
-
How to use the gear in your pack
-
Recommendations on good quality gear
-
If you bring your own pack I can make recommendations on what changes to make.

If students want to stay longer for more help with their survival packs or if they have more questions, that will be fine. The cost of this workshop is $40. I recommend bringing a notebook and pencil, and your survival pack if you already have one.

Friction Fire
Not quite confident your friction fire skills are good enough to get you by when you need them the most? Have a good handle on your other skills but this one is giving you some trouble? The real key to getting good at friction fire is your form and technique, these are usually either left out or just plain wrong in survival books. I tried for years to get a bowdrill fire, learning from books, but could never quite get it. When I was shown the proper form and technique by someone with real experience I got fire that same day.

In this workshop we cover proper tinder, fire structure, the right kinds of wood for friction fire sets, and how to make fire with bowdrill (the most universal and one of the most reliable friction fire methods) and hand drill (the original fire making method that has been in use for around 200,000 years) You will make your own friction fire kits to use and to bring home to practice with.

The cost is $50 per person. The age limit is 14 and up (if under 18 an adult must attend with you.) For this class you will need to bring a knife that is good for carving (we will be doing a lot of that). I recommend a carbon steel blade that is at least 3 inches long, sharp, and non-serrated.
(Scandinavian grind blades work well. I will have some good quality knives like this available to buy at the workshop for 25$ each. If you plan on buying one let me know at least 2 weeks before the workshop so I can be sure I have enough of them)

Primitive Trapping
In a survival situation trapping is one of the most energy efficient methods for procuring food. In this Workshop you will learn how to make several different kinds of effective, deadly traps out of materials that are readily available in the wild. You will also learn the proper ways to set them, and when and where you should set them for your best chance of catching something.

This workshop goes from 1:00 to 6:30 and the cost is $50 per person. You will need a notebook and pencil, and a sharp, non-serrated knife that is good for carving and a good saw or hatchet would be useful as well. I will have good quality knives for survival and bushcraft available to buy for $25 If you plan on buying one, let me know at least 2 weeks before the class so I can be sure I have enough.
